These works come from the visual language of Strange Companions, a world built from hundreds of paintings, ink studies, marks, symbols, bodies, fragments and other things that accumulated until they began speaking to one another.
More than 350 original pieces were created while developing the project. Those works became a kind of working vocabulary: repeated, rearranged, layered and collaged throughout the Oracle Deck, Field Guide and exhibition.
Each print takes fragments from that archive and brings them together as a new composition.
Each composition is assembled entirely from Bramble Lee Pryde’s own paintings, ink work and mark-making. Fragments created at different moments in the development of Strange Companions are brought together into a new work.
Some arrangements suggest figures. Others feel more like evidence, diagrams, gatherings or things caught briefly in the act of becoming something else.
