AMUSE BOUCHE
Amuse Bouche is the latest gallery show from Bramble Lee Pryde. Comprising one-of-a-kind objects for adornment, the show sees Pryde working in mediums that range from precious metals to contemporary materials. As intriguing on the body as it is off, her new work showcases her surrealist, sculptural vision. Borne from the tragic optimism of these strange, unsettling times, Amuse Bouche challenged the parameters of high craft and fine art as she oscillates between low and high-brow work.
ARTIST STATeMENT
In the last '20s, we experienced années folles as social, cultural and artistic expression dovetailed together and pop culture was born. Today as we emerge from the most surreal of times, I wanted to create bold experiences that take note of these wild years, as we all decide how we want to express ourselves in new ways.
Genderless adornment has been a staple of my work. After a several year hiatus, reintroducing my work into the ether, I wanted to create a fully immersive experience, curating every fixture, sound, light and corner to fully envelope the idea that high craft can be amusing, lowbrow can have meaning and that the continued idea of craft not belonging in the art space is antiquated, gendered and minsogynst.
